SCWD stands for: Swtiching Current Water Direction....or something.
Basically it is on the return line from your main pump, it's a small housing that has one inlet and two outlets. Inside the housing is an impeller that spins with the flow from the pump, after so many revolutions it switches the water from one outlet to the other, and then back again. So with the two outlets you have lines that return to your tank and if you place the on opposite sides of the tank the water flow will change from one to the other simulating wave action. A SCWD is a wave maker and a good way to get more utility out of your main return pump.
I plan to branch each return line so I have to 'powerheads' on each side of the tank, this will be my main form of wave movement off of one pump, plus the hoses are easier to place than actual powerheads. I should be setting my tank up in the next month so I'll post pictures at that time.
