Sandsifting star....

I found pics of the snail, although I actually think it's a type of conch.

Mitra episcopalis
Mitra carmelita
Mitra morchii
Mitridae Costellariidae

I didn't find a lot of info on them even using the names associated with the pic.

They seem to come from around Hawaii...But I couldn't find anything about what they eat. I've tried them three times, and all three times they've cratered within a few months. They often seemed to crawl up the glass. My theory is that they didn't care much for my substrate, (sugar sized arragonite), and may prefer larger sized crushed coral. I won't be trying them again.

Yep, that is them. I dont' think I will even try them. They need quite a deep sand bed and from what I have heard are quite hard to keep alive. With my chocolate chip star and my urchin I have a nice clean tank. No snails for hermit crabs needed here. I have spent so much money on snails and crabs before the star and urchin if I would have only done this sooner.

I do supplement their feedings though, I don't believe any tank no matter what size it is gives them enough on their own to survive well.

Thanks for the reply.....loki
