talking about this fish im curious on keeping one since im planning to move my gobies to my other tank so my questions are..

= will it be ok with sexy shrimps (wont eat them right or it will)
= will this be an active fish like clown fish or will be more like a firefish swimming arount but will be hidding on caves most of the time???

so can you guys reply the experience you had with them and if you got any problems with them why? was that aggression tors other fish or invertebrate please advice...

Thx in advance...

I have heard alot of good things about this fish and in fact it will probably be the next fish I add to my system. I have heard that it wont bother inverts like your Sexies and they are active, but will dart in and out of the LR.

I would take those threads with a grain of salt. Those are all uncharactaristic of the royal gramma. It seems to me that some of those people that had problems with the gramma had them in tanks that were too small.

You can buy just about any fish and every once in a while you will get one that is more aggressive than that species should be. I say give it a try and if it doesnt work out I will buy it off you (at a discounted "used" price of course!).

i really like royal grammas i had one for years that i lost in my fight with flatworms last spring. they are really colorful, active and have some personality. however in a 12 they may be a bit too agressive. if you don't plan on keeping any gobies or similer shaped/colored fish it may work out. they are no where near as aggressive as a psuedochromis - but they definitly can be territorial and fiesty. so in small tanks they limit your choice of companions a lot. mine held its own and didn't take any crap from tangs, clowns, and cardinals when i had it.....

I used to have one in my 12g with a clownfish. I never had any problems. It is the only fish I have ever seen allow the cleaner to really go to town on it.

Mine used to swim upside down and on its side like it was dying....really neat to wach when doing that.....I gave the fish away, but really liked it.
