Man this sucks! I had to replace those fans again, but this time I learned my lesson. (do not use nanocustoms fans!)
Last time I replaced I had some extra fans from nanocustoms (same brand) and they lasted like 3 or 4 months, then crapped out again. My friends, and even my brother Michael was complaining of the sound it was making, and how it was hard to sleep. I decided, that's the last draw, I am going to fix these fans the way a IT technician can....go with a pc fan, most importantly a ball bearing fan!
I went to Fry's with my friend, and bought a cpu cooler for a P3 cartridge. They come with two 50x50x10 fans necessary to replace the generic non ball bearing fans I had grinding in my 6er. They cost me 14.90, but it was worth it. I worked on my hood before the new year hit, as sort of a new years resolution to get it done right. All I can say is, operation successful, no noise, just clean air flowing out, and heat is being dissipated out of there, keeping my tank at 77, 78 tops! (before fixing fans, I was hitting 83 to 84)
Well let me share some pictures, enjoy my DIY fixing on some fans, hehe.
First here's a picture of the generic bad fan from nanocustoms( if you have this fan in your nanocustoms upgrade, be sure to replace them out with some ball bearing , low noise 50x50x10 cpu fan)
here's the backend of the crappy fan.
now look at this new cpu fan (very proud of these new fans)
here I am working with them and saudering the wires together, and then putting on some heat shrink rubber to complete the task
here's a good shot of the completed product (note: the fans come with 3 wires, red, black, and yellow...the red and black are the only needed, and the yellow wire you can just snip off)
Lastly, here's me placing my fuge light back on right before putting the heat shield back on.
Well there's my little project, I'm much happier. There are other flaws in the hood, but I believe I'll be able to fix that once I get the new 2006 cube I won. Hope this information helps those others who may have gotten frustrated with those old generic fans!
