Remove hammer off cement plug

Not sure where to post this. I have a hammer that is getting big. He is on a cement plug and i would like to transfer him to anything else. Thought about a flat toothpick to go up under its...whatever it is...you know??? Other than that, I am at a loss. HELP!

My camera sucks; and as usual, my daughter took it again this weekend. It doesn't really have a skeleton. Looks like soft tissue, a tube overtop the plug. It looks like he is now becoming two, but with one bottom. I don't have a pic editor and the camera doesn't pick up small things very well.

Squeeze the plug between some heavy duty pliers and it should slowly break apart. Cement gets brittle the more it stays in water. Give that a try and see how it goes.

I use this method for getting plugs off frags.

I am going to buy one (dremel) soon. Today, I took some pliers and broke apart the skeleton from the cement. Left enough skeleton to put in the sand w/o gluing it to coral. The cement was about 3.5 inches long. This should help the ph change in the tank, I think. I'm hoping this is why coraline isn't growing.

My best friends are a hack saw blade, cutter, and sandpaper....if i'm lazy then I use a dremel......Kris is right, use a pair of pliers, I've done that before, very easy to do.

It sounds like you are performing surgery. Lol. Sand paper?
