Hey guys,

I had my 12g nano cube sold--upgraded to a Clear For Life 20g setup with a 10g sump. Tigahboy from Nano Reef planned it and plumbed it for me...I just gave him my space restrictions (has to fit within a 24x26 area). here are the preliminary photos:

sure is - you have awesome taste and an eye for color - also the aquascape is a nice arch shape - leads the eye around the tank - really sharp tank. Also good choice of lighting heavy on the actinic to bring out the best in these particular corals.

Thanks guys. I'm not a big fan of actinic--actually I'm planning on modding my hood...swapping out the Actinics for T5's instead and will overall have a less blue look. pics are always taken with halides only because I just don't like actinics =P...

I tried a 14k 175 metal halide with my tank for a while and I ended up doing the opposite - I swaped it out for a 10k and kept the vho actinics for the dawn dusk effect. Lighting is definitly one of those areas where personal preference really comes into play. So many options and many work well. :) - but anyway I may just have to go get me some acanths now - oh boy time to rearange the rock again :)

LOL--yeah lighting is really iffy. I really love the Phoenix's because it's not very blue...they're like xenon lighting--it's SO WHITE that it's crossing over to blue. I am considering selling my acans if you're interested, I'm gonna keep a couple of them but I want more sand space for my blastos :).

Just curious who bought your cube and modded hood? Can I ask what you paid for it and what it sold for?

The reason is I might in the future do what you did when I go bigger, just want to get an idea.

Thanks...I sold it to imareefer from NR for $350...added stuffs too like both 2 pumps, Rio 80 (I think or a 60), minijet 606, the chaeto...live sand (I used brand new sand for this tank)...the marineland POS heater and brand new sponges, the ceramic rings and all the other junk....I paid around $450 I think...but I used the tank for like 6 months LOL.

When I said that I was gonna be upgrading to my 20 he contacted me via PM--I didn't even have to post it was for sale so it was convenient. He locally picked up too and paid in cash, what a swell guy! I also had some corals I hated so I gave it to him for free.

That's cause your overflow plumbing is restricted by a lot of turns.

Her return has a lot of turns/splits that are dropping the gph of the pump as well.

If you had turns/splits in your return, or a straight line from your overflow to your sump then your pump probably wouldn't be outpacing the overflow.

The plumbing on my main system is complex enough that I simply had to install ball valves to help regulate the flow from an oversized pump because the return plumbing is divided between two tanks with multiple spits and turns.

The tank looks amazing!! I am also in the process of plumbing my 20g with a sump/ refgium. After seeing yours I am getting many wonderful ideas. Thanks for the amazing pictures and install photos!! :mrgreen:

Her tanks are custom, and she mentions in the first post that she got them done by someone off of nano-reef. Her plumbing is a combo of standard PVC, bulkheads, and loc-line fittings. Lots of LFS carry loc-line, but if it's hard to find in your area you can always order it online.
