rbaby's 12g Nano Cube (img ext)

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum...was invited here by dragon and have been lurking for a couple of days and finally decided to post. I used to have a 12 gallon Eclipse with only 2 fishes...1 mushroom and a crappy 13w of lighting. However, I got a nano cube dx 12 that's modified by nanocustoms.com to 126 watts. It has a fuge light of 24 watts so I'm able to keep chaeto in my 2nd chamber.

Here's a tank shot when I just set it up a month ago:

Here you can also see how it's set up on my deks, it's on top of a rubber mat to keep any cracking/pressure points from an uneven surface:

One month later this is now what it looks like:

My stock list now is as follows:

. 2 Ricordias
. 1 Safecracker Zoos
. 1 Pink Zoos
. 1 Purple/Red Favia
. 1 Coco Worm
. 1 Red Pimple Mushroom
. 3 Small Frags of Hammer (was 1 but fragged to 3 for selling--he's not as puffy in this pic because I just cleaned the tank so he was still a little retracted from the whirlwind the magnum caused--but these heads get VERY puffy, like pom poms).
. 1 Red/Green Acan Lord
. 1 Pastel Acan Lord (mint green and light purple)
. 1 Mis-Barred False Perc (Chris)
. 1 Barnacle Blenny (Larnie - lol)
. 2 Astrea Snails
. 1 Scarlet Hermit
. 1 Blue Legged Hermit
. 1 Sexy Shrimp (I might get another)
. 1 Nassarius Snail

Here's some pics of my corals...these were taken with a Canon S500:

Newly fragged acan--he's still regenerating where the Dremel nailed him:

Unfortunately, this guy was on a very itty bitty piece of rubble, and now I can't find where he fell off to:

I also started messing with macro shots...if you're curious it's a 6 megapixel Fuji 6900 camera:

Great pics and write-up rbaby! Your macro shots are amazing and I'm very jealous of your beautiful ricordia. I love how you have it setup on your desk. It has a really nice, clean look to it.

Welcome to Nanotank :gh:

Dj, I will be getting the other half of the ric that I lost--he was actually ripped in half by accident and I traded the other half...but once he grows out a little, my friend will cut a piece for me.

With that said, if you want a piece when they grow up a bit more let me know :)...I've no problems trading.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)...any tips on how to macro zoos? I can't seem to get really really close to them without hurting my eyes and sacrficing quality...it might be because my colony is still very small lol...but I'm an impatient girl ;)...

I have a couple other things I want to add to my tank...about 5-6 zoo color morphs that I really enjoy...maybe hunt for more tri-color ricordias...but definitely a nice candy cane...maybe a small vibrant plate fungia (but still researching on the care for one)...and I'm waiting on a true-blue xenia. i have such a small tank that I've been very selective about what I stick in it...my only mushroom in there is the one that survived through my 13 watts...I figured he's got much sentimental value and since he survived through hell in 13w, he deserves a good life now hahaha...and I kept him.

The hammer coral won't be there for long...a cube is just way too small for a coral with sweepers imo--you sacrifice too much aquascaping room for such a little frag.

I had a rainbow yuma...unfortunately he passed away :(...he's the pic with the coco worm...he was a very weak specimen to begin with and he just continued to dwindlw down as time went by...so I think I will be avoiding yumas for the time being until I feel more confident about them again...if anything, I will probably buy a super lime green one when I plan on testing one out again in my tank...the rainbow was expensive :( and he was beautiful too.

This is a pic of the rainbow from the seller's macro...I was not able to get a macro of this guy, so this is the only one I had:

Within the next week or so I will also be getting a frag of this baby lord:

That will probably be my last acan as I want to get different other corals...I'm all thumbs up for anything pretty :).

Sure, I'd love to trade.

That rainbow sure is pretty. I've been looking hard for a good deal on one of those. Bummer that yours didn't do so well. :(

Here's an updated tank shot. I got some frags from someone who bought my tank...for a deduction to the monetary trade that is. I will be trading off my hammers though, that big xenia, the Monti digi and probably my rics and some zoos. I also got a new coral...a pretty brain that can be seen inside that li'l cave in there...I'm not sure what species it is so if you can tell from that pic, I'm all ears.

Hey Steven, I also have a barnacle blenny named Larnie :)...he's on the far far right of the pic, rarely ever leaves his barnacle...

Mike,

The macros were taken with a Fuji 6900...but the tank photos were taken with the S500 :).
