Question on setting up a 12g nano cube....

First off I would like to introduce myself. My names James and I have been fascinated with saltwater aquariums since I could remember. Well time went by and my wifed promised I could get a tank once we bought our first house. Sure enough we moved in 3 weeks ago. Since then I have tried to do as much research as I could on how to set up a salt water aquarium. then I came to a realization...... I have no clue on where to begin :lol3:

I purchased a 12 gallon nano cube in hopes it will be the learning block of how to set up a much larger tank in the future. So is there any write up I can look at that will guide me on what I need and how to setup a nano tank properly for reef and a few fish? Any help is much appreciated. :maitre

Here might be a good starting point.

Here are a few things to remember.

1. Be Patient. Nothing good happens in a tank when you rush things. Fish and coral are easily stressed especially when their water parameters change quickly.

2. Keep an open mind. There are a million and one ways to start and run an aquarium and everyone has their own way. What works for one person may not work in your tank.

3. Lighting and water flow are two of the most important aspects of a reef tank.

4. Don't overstock and don't get fish that aren't adequate for the size of tank that you have. Marine fish aren't like freshwater and they will grow out of their tank if placed in a tank that is too small. This will stress them and they will eventually die, so no hippo tang....

Those are a few off of the top of my head. Welcome and hope you enjoy your stay.
