question about cycling my tank..

hey all,
new here, just began cycling last week...i got the rocks and sand from a very established fish (4-5 years). Today i noticed the bristle worms are dying..should i be concerned? thnx all

yeah that might be a problem, those things are hard to kill. last to i had those die off was the salinity was real low. i acidently put some LR in a bucket that i was mixing saltwater and i just started to put salt in. oops. i would check your salinity. oh yeah by the way.....welcome to nanotank.

first of all i like to correct myself, i meant "from a very established fishtank" lol i checked and the salinity is currently at 1.022..time to get my water tested

I'd invest in a test kit ASAP! Like Erik said bristles are hard to kill... While diping my colonies in iodine bristles would die after being in the solution for 10-15 minutes! Welcome to nanotank :mrgreen:

i think ammonia killed it lol..my ammonia is kinda off lol..at this rate i wonder if theres gonna be anything left in my lr alive

your live rock will be fine as for the rest of its inhabitants. i just went through a tank crash , i lost almost everything. i couldnt believe what did make it as for the tiny stuff, pretty much what lived in the LR lived, everything thing on the outside died.

hey i got a question. (noob)
if i cycled the tank with jus LR.and when cycle is over, i add in LS..would that start over the cycle? (if so) would it be as long or just a mini cycle?
