These guys prefer medium current...so you may want to put him in a location where he gets a good amount of indirect current. Does he look inflated and tissue-y, or deflated and hard?

thats way too much phytoplex you should follow direction or just do a little everyweek and also changing it place sounds good keep an eye on him & keep us posted.

When changing the location of the candy cane it will take a bit of time to reacclimate to his "new" location they are fairly hardy corals . The photo you may back down to 1 x a week so you dont get high nitrAtes and algea blooms. They prefer meaty food like cyclop -eeze (fed lightly) or will take mysis as well HTH

i do not recommend feeding phyto at all unless you are target feeding a baby clam. corals are not - for the most part - herbavores they are carnivores that need only small amounts of meaty proteins/fats to suppliment their photosynthetic diet. i repeat small amounts!!! randomly adding phyto to a tank is a recipe for disaster IMO
as for candies they are definitly one of the easiest and IMO one of the few LPS's that are completly suited for life in a small nano. They do not like strong current and do not need strong light, and only minimal feeding of cyclopes or mysis

Before you do anything...

Always do a water change. Anytime a coral looks a bit out of it or not like its normal self, it is telling you that something is not right.

I would say 60% of the time, a water change will fix any problem you have.

Give that a try, give it a day or two, and if that doesn't work, then think about moving it.

Candy canes are kind of weird. Sometimes they are really easy, and other times they are really stubborn. They are fairly adaptable though, so unless it is getting battered w/ light or flow, or starved of flow and light, its placement shouldn't be causing any major problems.

Good suggestion by those above to try feeding it something meatier. LPS like meat, and probably could really care less about phyto/zoo plankton.

candy canes are so hardy, at least mine are. I dont target feed them all the time, and they are doing great. They already have another head :) I'm sure your candy's will pull around. keep us posted.

Ok, so i was reading that everyone likes candy canes so i was what is the big deal not pretty at all so i decided to get 2 head (white) and  they are cool looks like a sunflower but white all the time open and with tentacles out uuuuu crapy and also really puffy anyways then i got a second with 3 heads (brown with green mouth) and is looking great.....well after sharing let me say that.....

I AGREE WITH STEVEN CAUSE I THINK THEY ARE REALLY HARDY CAUSE I DIDNT ACCLIMATED MY CANDY cane i just drop it in put it were i wanted it (bottom in sand with medium to strong current) and 1 day later and was looking beautifully and like they say that they dont like the strong current but mine doesnt care so i think whats the deal with your candy cane and well i dont know if i mentioned but when overfeeding your coral they dont open that much unlike when they are getting enough food or when they are hungry is when they look the best... or there is always a unknow reason cause im having problems with my starbust and they open like once in a week (lazy starbust i think).

Sorry Everyone I didnt know anyone was still checking this thread :) But yes the candy is even doing better now then it was in the LFS its opening and staying open almost all the time its just finaly getting all the way closed by the time the light comes back on in the mouring. everything in my tank is doing great I couldnt ask for more its so nice to finally have it situated where it still needs some attention but is mainly self preservent where I dont have to much to worry about. thank god :D anyway thank you for asking and be sure to check my pic thread out in the under 20 gal nano section I up date pics pretty reg. thanks once again
