Placing frags?

Im going to be buying a few new frags in the next couple of weeks, but theyll be my first. How does everyone recommend placing them? Leave them on the dish they came on and try to hide it? I do see some people attaching them to the back wall of the tank? Possible? Looking for nice growth and spread onto the rocks. Ive been reading the fragging threads and people impale them onto the plate, do they absorb the plastic nails/drink swords used to secure them? Thanks

It depends how intense your lighting is and how demanding the coral is... Usually, once you pick a spot, you should leave it for a few weeks or only move it laterally to lessen acclimation stress. Up and down forces it to adjust to "different" light intensity.

If I see it's safe to, I usually CAREFULLY take my frags off the plugs they come on. The ones I got were usually glued on it. I have glue to secure corals to my rocks. If it has grown over the plug or the fleshy skin is near or attached to it, you may want to leave those.
