As for my moonlights, I'm using 1watt Newtek lights. DO NOT USE these, they are crap. But I CANNOT locate the company to complain, it's not even listed on the packaging. Go with coralife, I'm betting it's a higher quality product.

Completed the move, may have lost one fish cuz it's an idiot and got trapped under a rock. In the process I lost my salinity meter. So I bought a new one today, float type, and where my old one (dating back to 1997) said I was right on at 1.024 this one pegged out way above 1.032. So THIS may be the reason I can't keep LPS, my salinity is off the charts!

Doing emergency diloution now in prep for a massive water change.

The fish lives, I'm not sure what it's been eating but some of the kids found him the other night when some food came close to his spot and he pounced. Little bugger is still hanging out, behind the rock, under a ledge, upside down. What an ass! So this concludes the move and everything lived. I will be taking pictures this weekend, just got a new camera.

Haha, there are so many rics on that one little rock it's damn near impossible to actually relocate and move. I think it has 7 or 8 actualy heads and most of them have more than 2 mouths. Unfortunately, I can't frag it without tearing them all up. Plus, it's one of the best features of my tank! What's most amazing is I got it as three heads that were very sick and melting, in fact, I got them for free!

I need to start picking up some LPS again though. Right now my tanks is nothing but shrooms and zoas for the most part.

hey phischy: what's that above your clownfish? It's big and thriving. I think I might have seen them in a bluish green, but not aware of the name. Recommended to buy??

That would be an alveopora, flower pot coral. Mine is doing great but I apparently they die fairly easy. I recieved it from a friend who left town, so I didn't buy it per se, it's been thriving in captivity now for over a year, still growing and everything. It even survived whatever crappy parameters I had that killed off all my LPS. Anyway, I'm now in the market again for candycanes, frogspawn and open brains. I think they'll do well in this tank.

oh wow, wasn't aware it was a flower pot, nevermind, lol. Thought it may have been something else I've seen. I'm glad though it's working out for you. Your tank has really come around very nicely. amazing man!

Thanks,
I've got leads on candy cane/frogspawn/kenya tree frags, so hopefully it'll start being more populated here in the next few months. I still want to find some striped shrooms, they're amazinglingly hard to come by out here.

I also want another open brain, maybe a red one this time, so good things should start happening here.

Most of my tank has been bought as frags and just grown out, which is the cheaper way to do it and leads to a very low maintence tank. Top the H2O off and feed it bi-weekly.

I need to post some new pics. My tank has hit and passed the 1 year mark. It's amazing how some of my stuff has grown!

In looking back at my photos from early on, I've noticed that my hairy shrooms have probably lost 60% of their orgional mass, with two being small now, I'll have to start feeding them again, do hairy shrooms need intense light? what about flow?

Also my alveopora seems to have bleached itself. It's now almost pure white compared to the rust color it was when I got it. It is continuing to grow and add coral mass, but it doesn't extend out as far. I wonder if it's dying off? I know it's a forbidden coral and I'll hate to see it go.

I have dark blue spotted shrooms, and in the last pic those are purple shrooms. I'll take some more photos this weekend and get 'em up.
