Evil Pod!

Here is one of the evil little boogers. I saw the big kahuna but he was too fast, and I don't think he'll actually fit in the 'pod blaster either. I may have to harpoon him to get him out. "Argghhhh, thar she squiggles...."

LOL...Ok so I didn't realize that you'd already found the first article.

I agree that getting a live yellow tang and using it as bait isn't very humane....Boy wouldn't the tang police love that.

"I put this fat and healthy fully grown yellow tang in my new 30 gal tank, but before you get upset it's just temporary, once I use it to catch all the fish-killing-isopods out of my tank I'm going to give him back to the LFS"

I can hear the screaming now.

Maybe you could use a dead fish as bait. The LFS always have a fresh supply. Just wire the corpse up and wait, as soon as the unsuspecting iso attaches you push the big red button next to the tank, and another parasite gets electrocuted....Ok, maybe not.

Speaking of tangs, Incysor - have you seen the yellow tang up in the 25 gallon tank up at Neptunes? They've got like 7 fish in there! I asked them last time I was there if it was happy and they said "oh yeah, hes doing great" and threw some nori in there and we watched him eat. Funny stuff.

LOL...Sounds like Neptunes. I very rarely go in that store. It's not close enough to me to be convenient. Since I'm gonna have to drive to go to a store anyway I tend to go to the ones over near Bellaire-Chinatown.

Be vewwwy vewwwy quiet....I'm hunting 'pods!

The picture turned out pretty good, considering how small that bugger is. I'm going to line up all his buddies next to him. I found this harpoon on ebay:

There's the big guy, and two smaller ones that I've got to catch. It's going to be tough, plus there are a ton of smaller squigglers and I have no way of knowing if they're going to grow up to be these nasty bugs!

I think I may really re-bait my trap now that I don't think there's anything left for them to eat anymore. Of course, that big guy won't fit into the trap. I'll have to lie in ambush. Maybe I could get one of those deep sea divers to go get him, you know, the little bell divers.

I'll start negotiations with this guy now, but he may only be interested in treasure:

Maybe I'm just strange. Maybe I'm just "Something Phischy" but I seem to do better huntin' 'pods when I'm "in character". They plan on attacking my tank, I plan on attacking them.

And in the end I bagged these evil a-holes, and as promised, I'm linin' 'em up next to the first one:

note: I didn't actually get dressed up. This pic was taken a year ago when San Diego was on fire and I was about to leave, the air was full of ash and I was biking over to a friends house. I'm not THAT strange.

I'm having "timing out" problems with my net connection. I can't figure out what it is, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with Microsoft Service Pack 2. Ever since I installed that thing my PC hasn't worked right.

I couldn't get the pic of me to load. I'll keep trying though.

Just got home after a night out and I pulled 8 more evil no-good "Axis of Evil" 'pods out of my tank. I've got 'em lined up next to the others but one thing I learned, let 'em dry out in the air before you attempt to move them around otherwise they just curl up into balls.

Another tip for dealing with evil 'pods. These are paracitic and or scavengers. They're much easier to pick up off the sand with a turkey baster than rock where they can get a foothold and be damn stubborn. Since I have no fish for them to feed off of, they are scavenging. which hopefully means they're starving or living off of snail and crab poo. Either way, to encourage them to get on the sand vs. the rock, use your turkey baster (aka 'pod blaster) to blow all the garbage off of your live rock down to the sand. if there's nothing on the live rock for them to feed on, they'll go down to the sand and it'll make your life much easier. Just a tip I finally figure out as I picked up all 8 tonight off the sand and it was mucho easio.

The battle rages on. This weekend in addition to pulling more evil 'pods out of my tank, I hope to install moonlights and re-check my water parameters. I've got a friend who'll be moving soon and is letting his tank go to crap, so I may start to buy stuff off of him hopefully at a huge discount to add to my tank. It's time for some interesting stuff in there!

And the battle rages on....

If you keep huntin' those pods, this one is gonna come snatch you up out of your sleep!

It was discovered "10 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at a depth of 1700 meters".

Jimminey Christmas!!!

I was spying on my tank last night and I saw a swarm of little squigglers crawling all over my rock. I guess something just hatched. Dammit. The problem is I don't know what they are and if I should get up in arms yet. There are litterally so many there is no way to start suckin' 'em out with my 'pod blaster. I guess I'll have to wait and see if they grow up into bad guys or good guys.

I need to take some photo's, my tank is looking good other than it being the 'hood for a bunch of no good gangsta's. I think this weekend if my water is good to go I may get my first reef inhabitent. Any suggestions? It should be pretty hardy and not very tastey. Also going to get some moon lights as well. But I swear, if I see some 'pods chillin' on the corner in their hoopty with some female 'pods, no more mood lights!

I'd really have to buy that harpoon to get that SOB out of my tank. Of course, 1/2 my water would be on the floor if he crawled in there. That thing creeps me out man, I bet I'm going to have my first nightmare in 20years.

after coming up from 1700 meters, do you think my Metal Halides be to bright for it? I could just see the biggest isopod in my tank look over his shoulder at that guy after bullying the small fry in my 29 gal.
