ph help

I have just recently set up my nano cube 12 dx (finally!) and its been sitting for about 5 days, on the fourth day I added about 5 pounds of live rock, and filled half of one of the sump cartridges with some smaller live rock pieces. The ph has been sitting at 7.7 even with 2 inches of crushed aragonite. The salinity level is at 1.024, and yes I am running it with dechlorinated tap water untill I pick up an RO system which will be soon. The ph hasn't moved up or down but I want to reach 8.2, I have heard of using limewater but where do u purchase it and is it really safe, or should I just use a chemical buffer at my lfs.

I would recommend something like Kent buffer. Limewater may be a bit much. It may be just too late for me, but I could of sworn that limewater makes your water more acidic...bah, sleep...need sleep. But use ph buffer.....:::snore:::

ya you must need sleep, cause im pretty sure limewater has a ph of 12 making the water more alkaline, but i may be wrong

yep 12.54 at 25 celcius. But seriously limewater is a bit tricky from what I understand. Too quick a ph change isn't too good plus there's the chance of have a cloudy layer of ?calcium bicarbonate (or carbonate)? (milky white junk) all over your rocks. Good night! :iill

P.S. If you really want to use limewater I've heard a nice slow drip is preffered. And pickling lime (found at foodstores) is the same thing as the Kalkwasser in the lfs. Here is a good link that may help.
