peppermint shrimp

So I bought a peppermint shrimp yesterday and havent seen him since he was added. Is this weird or is he just hiding?

How did you acclimate him? Have you fed your tank since you put him in there? If you have a flake of food in you fingers, he should come RUNNING for it.

mine hides all the time, i only see him when i feed the tank. its normal never to see him....well at least its normal for mine.

they are pretty much nocturnal, so don't expect to see him much, they are not nearly so sociable as cleaner shrimp

I was also going to say that I didn't see mine for 2 weeks after I threw him into my 20 gallon. I thought for sure he was dead. Then one night I broke out my maglight with the red lens and there he was!

Give that a try one evening. I bet you spot him. :mauer:

Is it possible he ate a xenia polyp? Something did haha

It took a week for my new Peppermint to roam the tank. During the first week he was mostly active at night, must have gotten hungry enough to become social?

i really dought that it ate your xenia, when xenia dies it goes quick.

Alrighty, just wondering. I bought a new peppermint shrimp because I have yet to see the other one (i searched at night) but my new one is extremely social. It likes to clean my hand
