O my,

I'm a sales rep for manufactures that service major pet stores and I was working over the weekend (They needed demostrators to improve the sells on Nature's Reciepe and made us sales reps work) when I came upon a wonderful sale, an Oceanic 37g Show Aquarium. I fell in love with it at first site. The LFS only wants $80 for the tank.

What increases my interest in this tank is the shape of the tank. It's a cube but it's not narrow like most tanks are. I've been looking at tanks with dreamy eyes waiting for the day when I get my first condo and I can set up a nice reef aquarium in my bedroom and front room. However, this is at least 3yrs from now.

Anywho, I just brought my first nano last week and I currently cyclying the tank. From my previous post most know that I almost killed my live rock.

Update:

Live rock is doing good and there is signs of life again. I can see bristle worms, snails, shrimp and some other worms that survived my deadly process.

Now that the live rock is returning it's color and some of the animals are still living, it is very tempting to buy this 37 gallon tank.

The problem is that I simply cannot afford buying more rock, another heater, a sump, pumps, lights and sand. Just to bring this new tank up to par with my 12 gallon nano would cost me about $500 and that going the cheap route.

I'm starting to look at my nano each day and want bigger more and more rock, color and the potential.

Well, just thought I share that with everyone.

Yeah I know. I want the tank so bad. But, I would want to set it up as soon as I got the tank home from the LFS. So what I'm planning on doing is tansfering all my LR and LS into the new tank and buying an external filter to get me by until I can buy a sump sometime next month.

For now, I just want to make sure that I have enough circulation and filtration. The tank will be bare almost since my current LR set up is only about 10LB. But that 10LB's is dense rock. I had to take out 5LBS's because the rock was so dense that it took up most of the room in the nano tank.

I'm have to sleep on this for a couple of more nights before I run out and buy this tank.

If the tank is taller than about 20", you would almost NEED at least T5HO or MH lighting... one thing to consider. Also, if the tank is too narrow front to back, it makes for very difficult aquascaping for a reef tank. Thirdly, you dont want to get yourself into a reef tank without adequate funding. The best thing to do is to save up or slowly build up dry goods and do it right.

Oceanic is a great brand though. Just want to give you a heads up on what to look out for.

Tx for the advice.

I do want to take things slowly rather than rushing into things.

After I did my caculations this tank would cost me more than what I could afford at this time.

Thus, I'm going to focus on my nano cube for right now.

I took out the sponges in the first chamber and removed the bioballs and ceramic rings in the second chamber.

I plan on placing chemi-pure and puriden in the first and second chamber.

That should do it for now. Perhaps I'll look into getting a 30g Biocube instead of the Oceanic.
