I have never seen this product before.
I found a couple sites for this product...This one is a pretty good price for it. Although $20 for 4oz is pretty steep. From what I can tell this is meant to help you jump-start your pod population in a new tank, or for starting your own culture. I think that a mandarin would go through the bottle pretty quickly if you were to simply try to feed the tank with them.

I hadn't seen this product before, and I'm actually somewhat excited that you found it. I think I'll order some and try it. I've still got the 10g tank that I had setup as an amphipod breeding tank. I need to empty it and start it over and this would be a cool product to try out that way.

Maybe setting up a small tank this way, and using half the bottle to start your own culture and half to feed to your tank directly you could keep the mandarin fed well enough that you wouldn't have to get rid of it.

I've kept a 10g tank just to raise amphipods for them before...It's sort of a pain...Do you have a link to the copepod article?

Sure here it is. Let me know what you think about it.

Very cool....Frank Marini is actually going to be giving the 2nd part of a talk on fish breeding at the local clubs monthly meeting next month.

I've seen him lecture once before at one of the meetings. The topic that time was FO systems and predators in general.

wow, i saw that step by step guide, and it blew my mind. What I will be doing, shall be much simpler though. I like that bottle of pods in a bottle, that's hella cool. Too bad you can't get this huge bottle though :(

I ordered 2 bottles. I wont get them until next week (missed the shipping deadline) . I am going to feed him with one(direct feeding and by putting some in the hair alage i have in the tank hoping that they will grow somewhat). The other bottle i am going to try and raise them. I have a limited space so i might try a modified version of what that article stated. When i figure it out i will post details and progress reports. :D

This guy came pre-decorated.
It wouldn't have any room to add anything else. Although if he does start it won't be difficult to catch him. If you poke at him all he does is squat down and try to look more like polyps. Doesn't run, or move away or anything.

Here's a pic of the little guy. So far he appears to be a decent addition. I'm still keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn't go harvesting.

Thats what mine looks like.

I need some expertise now. I have two small clowns. Seem to be doing well but 2-3 days ago i noticed black spots on them. They have more on them today. I have pics and will be happy to email them. Their fins and mouth look normal... in fact everything does about them except for those spots. Any ideas (remeber i am new to this)
