Hello everyone! New to the site.I have been reading alot of articles daily on here. I'm wanting to start a Nano tank, i was lookin at the 2006 Nanocustoms Modded JBJ 12DX 4.24 from Nanocustoms. Its has 96w of pc light in the hood. I had a few questions i wanted to ask.
I don't have a LFS around me so i would have to order most of my stuff. I was wondering if there is a good site to order live rock for Nano tank. Also would like to know what i can keep in here as far as corals go. I also like the clams. I think i might just start out with fish only then move slow to adding corals and building tank up like some of the pics on here. I wanted to make sure i had enough lighting to keep some of these corals.
Also wanted to know if there are any quick/cheap mods i can do to my future cube that would make it suitable for what i wanna do.

im sure i will have more questions as i get closer to setting it up, but think thats all for now. Thanks for any advice anyone can give.

:welcome to Nanotank Nano#9

There are many places online that sell LR, some you can even tell them what size tank it is for and they will work with you. As for corals, with 96w of light there will be many you can pick and choose from.

As for mods I'll let some of the other chime in since I don't own one myself.

:welcome to the board!

I too have ordered from on-line sources, I have used the same as drty811 and www.marinedepot.com , www.petsolutions.com , and www.premiumaquatics.com and have been highly satisfied with them as well.
What part of the country are you located in? If you have to order but can use a semi-local vendor it could save on shipping, especially with heavy items or livegoods when the time comes. One of the dealers I have ordered from before gives people in my area plain UPS ground rates because we are close enough that we get everything overnight without having to pay extra. That can save alot of $$$$ in the longrun.

It has been done, but MH will always be a better choice for clams. Just make sure to get a clam that won't out grow your tank. I didn't see anyone mention this site so here goes www.hellolights.com is pretty good.

when i get my live rock, would i have to let it set in another tank to let die off fall off, or could i just put it directly in tank? When cycling , will putting the live rock/sand in tank start the cycle process? Also when i start putting corals in after the cycling process is well over, will i have to add any additives to water as far as calcium or any other type of stuff to make corals grow healthy. Would appreciate if someone could explain this to me. Thanks!!!! sorry rookie here! :)

Cycle with the LR/LS in your tank. Don't dose till you have more XP, salt mixes have all that stuff and will be replenished with water changes.

Do more research before you buy. These are all things you should know before your tank arrives.

The only clam you could probably keep is a Derasa. Not too exciting, and it will survive, not thrive in PC lighting.

Its hard to say what additives you might need. Typically in smaller tanks the regular water changes are sufficent in replacing the elements that are used. The only way that you will be able to tell is to test your water regularly.

Adding uncrued live rock and sand will start the process, as dieoff occurs it will kick start the nitrogen cycle.
