Hi Guys

I have a tropical tank at the moment that really isn't doing it for me! I used to have 3 marine tanks years ago but fish only. My plan is to rehome my cichlids and start up a nano tank. FOrtunately a friend of mine runs the marine department in a local shop! Woot Woot! However I'd really appreciate some advice from you guys and gals! (That was my US impression! lol)

I've had a good look on here and quite like the JBJ 28 Nanocube. Any thoughts? It's been a long time since I kept salty critters!

In terms of stock etc I'm not sure as yet but a royal gramma is on my list as well as a long wish list of inverts!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Woot Woot!

:welcome to Nanotank!

I like the all in ones for the clean lines and lack of visible equipment so you like the way the 28 looks then by all means go for it.

I would make sure to get a surface skimming attachment (if it doesn't already have it) and upgrade the stock pump (keep the original for a back up so if and when the upgraded one fails you won't have to freak out because you don't have anymore pumps and the store is closed). Also I would remove ALL the media in the back of the tank and only use one sponge at a time (rotate and clean every 3 or so days). If you want high demanding corals the HQI 28 nanocube (the one with metal halide lighting) looked really nice.

Hi Tim
Thanks for your note. Trouble with me is I want to run before I can walk! The last time I set up a tank more than 6 years ago now I was very impatient, I bought pre matured sand etc so I could get it up and running almost straight away! I need to learn some patience this time as I need to do it properly in order to get it right so I can add the inverts!!! You know what us women are like when we decide on something! My husband says I don't clean the trops out enough to start a reef but he's never 'adopted' marine life so doesn't get the addiction YET!!!!
Roll on the after Christmas sales! Thanks for the advice.

:) Good luck and yep, I love the sales. My wife actually caught the bug and now she is the one saying "oh look at that coral, we could get that one and put it the 90gallon!".
