after a few weeks of looking around and asking question i have settled on what i feel is a solid start. i got a great deal on a very clean 12 gallon nano cube with stand and a ton of supplies local for 80$. with a few upgrades i set it up tonight. if you see anything i am doing wrong please let me know i can take it. i am running a media basket in the first chamber. second chamber i am going to run live rock chips for now but might change that later and in the 3rd is my pump and heater. i put the floss in the second chamber for tonight only because i hope it helps clear my cloudy mess ;) water seems low in the third chamber i tried to adjust it better with the skimmer and it seemed to help but still seems low. the pump is fully under water but not by much.

20 lbs of CaribSea’s Arag-Alive Bahamas Oolite
tomorrow i will top that with 15ish lbs of live rock
then the cycle begins

upgrades are
-intake simmer
-maxijet 900 pump
-media basket
-on order Hydor FLO

this morning i woke up to a some what clear tank and trip to the LFS i came back with 15bs of live rock and wow the tank is FULL! too full? give me your opinion. after setting up the rock i seen a few places that i cant get my magnet clear past. the magnet cleaner that came with the tank is somewhat bulky i might look for a lower profile one.. how many times have you guys pulled your rock and re set it up.. i think this looks ok but wonder what it could look like if i tried again LOL
i installed new floss this morning the old stuff was full of stand after only one night. i am not running anything else yet i figured tomorrow i will install new floss again and put in my carbon and chemi-pure. am i on the right track? when should i get a cleaning crew?

tanks this morning

mins. after rock was installed

if i am boring you with pics let me know.. i am just shocked how clear this has become over night.. i did change the rocks around for more ins and outs but i will post them pics tomorrow since it stirred the tank up a little
day 3 morning pics

after moving my rock around yesterday this is what i have come up with.. i might remove some of this rock at a later time it still seems very full but i kinda like it.

i seen this little guy this morning what is it? is it good or bad for my tank?

thanks.. i think i have ALOT of rock in there but so far so good. i am new to this and a little undecided on what to used in the rear chambers. i am about a week into the cycle. i am only running floss in media basket in the first chamber, a heater with a mesh baggy of some love rock chips i had left over in the second chamber, and the 900 in the third. i have since added a Hydor FLO witch has stopped my sand from making drifts.

Interesting I'm a few weeks behind you I have everything to start but the tank which was shipped damaged. So I read and wait your experience gave me some things to think about

I registered just to tell you what I did.

I have a New JBJ Nano 12 gallon LED. I put in a Maxijet-1200 from amazon @ 20$. No matter how I placed the rocks the sand blew a little. I had to completely diffuse the jet with a sock for it to not blow. That was not a long term option. I had to go buy a 5$ bag of white gravel from Petco and place it 1/4 inch deep in the corner and then I scattered it around the bottom for texture. Overall it looks good. It adds a little to the tank. Kinda like it a little with the rocks.

(Before I added the rocks. Will take pics tonight of it.)
