Hi everyone. I am new to the hoby and currently in the research and saveing up stages. I was looking for some recomendations for a tank. I was debating on either one of these(I know their is no best tank was looking for proes and cons or if one tank is not a good brand then i could take it off my short list) The tanks I am trying to decide between are the finnex 22g with refugium, finex 30g with refugium, CAD 22g with refugium, JBJ 28g with refugium, or ocianic 29g, red sea 34g(silver one its like 200$ cheaper) and finally the 28/29g aguapod. Hear is a little more info that might help you to make a choice. I want to try to keep a mated pair of clown fish, and probly a goby and maybe 1 other fish (was leaning towards flame hawk fish but that might not be a great choicea0 want to do soem inverts and coral not interested in clams to mutch maybe l8 if i get a second tank. well i apriciate any info you guys have and fell free to give me info on a tank not on the list if i missed one. currently i think i am leaning towards the finnex or cad 20/22g tanks but my wife is probly leaning towards a cube. ty for help

Mind boggleing ammount of conflicting information isn't it? I have a Nano cube 24 Gallon. Metal Halide light with fans. And "moonlight" lights. i got mine on Ebay WITH a stand, plus free shipping, for $100 less than just the tank. Worth a look. I even got some critters from there. All alive and doing well.

Hi goodreefer, and thanks for the welcome, also thankyou bswasta for the info. do you know what brand of cube u got on ebay? I have seen some sales and was thinking about getting a solana from curent(lfs said a brand new set up plus metal halide lite for 650$ seems to be a resonalable price for this particular tank but i will probbaly have to wait till july august to get it( i might just go with a cheaper aquapod and save some cash for better live rocks/sand and live stock

Welcome to the forum and enjoy!
To start with you should consider the location of where your going to put the tank and think about what kinds of tanks will look the best because most all of the ones on your list are good tanks the all in one systems have a clean look.
I have the JBJ 28 MH.
If you are thinking about coral you will need a tank with a MH light.
Do alot of research because it will be a lifesaver.
And whatever you do don't use tap water in your tank!

ty for the welcome aj2656, I am deffinatly trying to do a lot of research before I finnally make my purchase of tank and live stock. I purchased a 1 year subscription of aquarium fish international and the the following books:
1)"Aquarium Corals : Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History"
Eric H. Borneman

2)A PocketExpert Guide to Marine Invertebrates: 500+ Essential-to-Know Aquarium Species"
Ronald L. Shimek

as for water i plan to purchase premixed salt r/o water and r/o top off from my local fish store. ( i am not sure if i am going to get my tank from him yet) As for location the tank will go in my office upstairs. Do i need the mh light for all corrals, cause i was looking at the 28 gal jbj copact florecent it has 100+ watts of lights or possibly the 24 gal aquapod.

I have a question about clown gobies. I saw them in one of the lps and thought it looked like the type of fish my wife would love, was wondering if they were the type of gobies that somtimes form a relationship with pistol shrimp :!: If they arent can some one give me a list of pistole shrimp gobie comboes and weather or not a clown gobie could be kept in the same tank with one of these comboes. ty for any help.
