Hello all
I just recently (1 day ago) made the jump into the nano reef world.
I started with a small 1 gallon but while looking for a filter and lighting the cost quickly went up.
While thinking of what route to go I decided to use an old JBJ Picotope I had in the garage.
I have 3lbs of sand 3.5lbs of live rock.

A few questions I have is regarding water changes.
I have been using water from my local FS the water was from a long time running coral tank.
How often do I need to change the water? How much water should be changed? With water evaporation would it be safe to add from the extra water I have from filling the tank?
I have tried looking for this online but have not been able to find any answers.
Thanks in advance.

Salt does not evaporate so you need to top up with fresh RO water and not saltwater. After topping off on a tank this small I would do a weekly to bi-weekly water change of about 10%. Getting premixed saltwater from your LFS is fine for water changes, just match temp. prior to changing.
