New to Nanotank.com....Just setting up a 12g Aqua Pod

Like the title says, I am new to salt water aquariums and I have just set up an Aqua Pod 12G. I put in 20lbs. of sand and about 15 lbs. of cured live rock.

I have heard of people changing out the filters and adding misc. other stuff to help in performance. Where should I start? Or should I just leave it alone?

just another newbs opinion

welcome to the crowd. since i am just starting out I would say "as is" for now until you figure out what you really want but the diy forum is filled with great way of modding all types of setups to get what you want and what works for you, from what little experience I have I would say get rid of any filter pads\bioballs and just rely on the ls and lr to do the bio filter. though I do find that there is a need for mech filtering of some kind. but I am sure the rest of the veterans will step in and help more then I can, myself just being a newb like yourself.

:welcome to the board!!!!!!!
Like mentioned take out the biorings and balls and use a single (or even just a part of one) sponge and clean it at least weekly, more often if necessary. As far as other mods goes, that will depend on what you are wanting to put in the tank. In fact if this is going to be a fish only tank you can leave the filtration as is with the rings and balls in the rear chambers. One upgrade that is very popualr is upgrading the return pump to a higher gallonage pump. Try to give us an idea about what you are planning to do with this tank and we'll see if we can be of more help.
