New to Nano reef tanks

Hello all. I'm new to the forums here and seek some advice. I would like to get started with a nano reef tank somewhere in the 6-14 gallon area. I know a little about marine aquariums but nothing about nano reefs.

Am I better off getting a all in one tank set up (the only thing I can find around here are eclipse systems...any suggestions on those) or would it be a better idea putting a system together?

well if you want to spend some $$..you could get a 12 gallon nano cube kit that has the delux hood for $200..it has awesome lighting for growing corals... a cooler (fan) power head..ect.. here is a link to one.....http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produ...ll&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&N=2004&Nty=1

6, 12, 14, 24, and 29 !

i would stear away from the eclipse systems, doesnt have the right lighting and not enough filtering. i would stick with the JBJ 6g or 12g, and the aquapod brand. JMO

I'm not a fan of the all in one systems. It seems like a lot of people are upgrading everything in them anyways so why not just get a 10 gallon or 20 gallon long and get all the equipment you want the first time around? Just my two cents.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I may go the independant build route. It may be lots of fun that way to see it built from the ground up. I did find an Oceanic Biocube for sale at the LFS. Still gonna do a little research then start this nano tank up.
