How long have you had it up and running?
I've got a very similar setup at work. I don't have any fish in it yet, just some shrimp and corals.
How's the cherub doing in yours. This is really too small a tank for him. Same goes for the tang in the 30 gal. I've been watching a cute one-eyed cherub that's been at the LFS for quite a while. I was considering him for my home tank, but the flameback I've already got would probably beat up on him so I haven't gotten him. My 40 has a friggin fish-killing crab in it, so I'm not putting any new fish in that one until I manage to capture it. Problem is there were 4 chomis, he's got 3 of them. I don't think he'll go after the bait in the jar while he's still full off my fish. :evil:

. As far as the fish yes they're there, have been there for 4 mos. and are as healthy as any other fish out there. I just watch what I feed, they have never been fed anything but fresh food and cyclopeeze, no crappy flake/pellets. I do 95% water changes once a week. If you looked past the fish you noticed there's no algae at all, no cyano water is crystal clear or no signs of stress on the fish at all, so I guess that after 8yrs. in the hobby taking care of nanos I know a little bit of how far I can push the envelope.
I know the 6-line will eventually outgrow the tank so in the future he'll be moved to a bigger tank. TY guys for the comments :specool:

I haven't noticed any ill effects after doing it. I've been doing it for quite awhile and everything is fine. I started doing it after reading Calfo has been doing it on his nano system for yrs. now and since I setup this system it's been on that schedule.
Now it's only less than 1.5 mins. that the LR, corals are uncovered, so the stress if any is minimized.

It's not just being uncovered that can be a big shock. If the tank water's params are widely different than the water coming in then you'll be shocking them by hitting them with so much good water at once without them having a chance to acclimate back from the wonky levels they've gotten used to. This large a water change only works if you've got very good water quality to start. Or if it's some type of emergency and you're already in danger of losing everything.

also you have the likely possibility of re-cycling your tank. You could flush out the nitrobacter and possibly have nutrient probs. May not happen but I would watch it closely. I think 50 percent WCs make more sense. IMO. But I do love the centropyge. killer pics.
