Plain aragonite will be fine and since it is "dead" there can be no die-off to cause a cycle. You may want to rinse it in some old tankwater first to get rid of dust and impurities before adding it to the tank.

Hi Skip,

What will the aragonite do in my tank? Will it help filter the water or is it just for looks?

Thanks,

Eric

It shouldnt do any thing to the tank , it is mainly for looks and to stablize the rock it also gives space for the benifical bacteria to grow

The aragonite will eventually become live as the bacteria grows on it, it also helps to stabilize alkalinity due to it slowly dissolving (over years).

Hi Guys,

I can not find any aragonite at any of the LFS, I will have to wait.

I did pick up a few more corals.

Here is a pic.

Thanks for all your help guys,

Eric

BTW, this is a Canadian website so I think the prices are in Canadian dollars. I mainly wanted to point this out for us Americans that will think the prices are way out of line.

Hi Skip thanks for the help,

I am going to stick with the BB for now. Would that cause any problems?

Thanks,

Eric

I agree, BB is no problem at all. There are alot of reefers that only have BB tanks but its my personal preference to have a substrate for looks.

Hi Guys,

I have picked up some aragonite at Big Al's. I also moved my Clown to a bigger tank. I put in a Orange Spotted Goby he moves around less so I think he will do better then the Clown (You guys are right a clown was to big for this tank). I also added a pepermint shrimp and my one claw Porcelain Crab for now. I might take one of these guys out when I add more coral

Thanks for the help,

Here is a updated pic.

I like the sand in there better too. It also will help to anchor the LR where you want it. Keep the updates coming.

Hi Guys,

Here is an updated picture of my tank. I moved the Goby and pepermint shrimp to my 10G. There is just Coral and my crab (+cleaner crew) in my tank now. I think I might add some more coral soon.
