WOW!!! I knew live rock came with some interesting stuff on it, but I didn't expect to see it the very first day it was in the tank! I've seen 4 brittle stars (the smallest being 1/2 inch and the largest about 3" in diameter) so far. Obviously I've been staring at the tank non-stop since I put the LR in yesterday and there is so much cool stuff going on in there. I've seen lots of little "shrimp" looking things which from what I've read I'm assuming are pods. I've also seen a few fan shaped algae looking things that dart back into the rock when I move too fast.
Well, these are the pics that I need help with so far.... Thanks for any help!!!

i'd leave it be. the shrimp may be a pistol shrimp of some kind. i'd need a better pic of it to be sure. the first looks like a bristle worm.

first of all......i do the same thing, i sit at my tank for hours. i absolutly amazed at what i find. it never gets old.

first pic...looks like a bristle worm, harmless debris eaters.will also eat anything that dies in the tank.

second pic...some sort of pistol shrimp, maybe randalls shrimp or tiger pistol. will have one larger and one smaller claw. great addition to your tank. you can get a goby that will pair up with it and share a borrow.

third pic....some sort of sponge, cant remember the name but i have a bunch of them in my tank. filter feeders, perfectly safe for your tank.

hope this helps. good luck and happy reefing.

It looks like a pistol shrimp to me. You'll know for sure if you hear something that sounds like someone knocking a large ring against the glass. Pistols make that sound. Kinda freaky, kinda cool.

I've never seen so much stuff come out of rocks. I've never gotten anything but feather dusters, which I happen to like a lot. But that's it. It looks like you hit the jackpot, sort of. Wait until you start hearing the pistol shrimp. :)
