Ok here is some questions Im sure you guys hear alot But I am planning on setting up a nano tank in the near future and had a few things to ask first of all Would I be better off buying just a tank and buying each piece for it lighting filter etc or buy something like http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_display.cfm?pcatid=15559

Also If I was to buy just a tank What kind of filter would you guys recommend I know the live rock and sand do some but wasnt sure if they would need a HOB filter to help out or not Also I know as far as lighting goes depends on the coral mostly and pretty much what i would have would be some good starter corals as I am still learning And one last thing any suggestions on what type of tanks to buy if I should just part it out? I know I am asking alot and I know I should search but I get lost in the pretty pictures hehehe :D

For your first tank..... I definitely recomend an all in one type of system that's already put together. I started with a 12 gallon and was able to learn a lot and figure out what I wanted to upgrade to. 3 months later I was in a 60 with a 20 gallon sump. Anyway. It's the cheapest way to get started to make sure your going to be into it and have the time necessary for it.

You won't need a HOB or anything else to get going. As you learn more and experience more you'll want to mess around with it and do some mods. Better to figure out what you want before you spend a fortune on putting your own tank together.

Good luck.

One more thing I was reading info on this tank in the book says its 3 watts per gal is this enough or would more be prefered? I know it depends on what I want but like I said a few starter corals when the time is right

that light will do fine for starting out with mushrooms and zoos. you'll want to upgrade it eventually.

Bigger isn't always better. It takes longer to fill up and more $$$$$$ to do so. I'm glad I started with an all in one. I learned a lot from that tank. If you can do it for the same money and think it's a better choice for you in the long run then do it.

And what would you get with $160? size tank, lighting, pump??????
