Nano Cube Paint Color

Does anyone know the manufacturer and paint color, preferably numeric code, of JBJ Nano Cube's hood?

I contacted JBJ and they just told me its charcoal grey. Unfortunately, there are many shades of grey even if I know charcoal.

I had an aquarium putty accident. I used my hands to need the putty like the directions said, but didn't realize residue was still on my hands when I touched the hood. The putty is used to fasten some corals to live rock. I did get the putty off using paint thinner, but the paint rubbed of too, doh!.

I guess I could buy a can of charcoal grey spray paint and paint the entire hood, so its the same color though out. It should look fine, but I'd prefer just to shoot the blemished area.

I dont think that the give it a color code # ....try mixing your own from some paint in the "model car" section of walmart it is called testors paint ...very easy to mix..... or take the hood to a home depot or lowes for them to do a color anylis for a better match even a maco or car repair center can do that and it is a car paint that is safe around salt and harsher conditons you will still be able to see it because it is a molded plastic and you will see the "touch ups"

Thanks that's very helpful. I think I will take it to Home Depot for analysis. I thought of the testors paint too, but like you said I don't know if it would hold up under the salt creep and water exposure, but I have a feeling JBJ is using nothing special for their paint either. It's definetly not the hard paint you see on your oven, etc.

Home Depot can take a gun and scan the color right into the computer and give you a can (mixed up paint) that will match perfectly.

They can custom mix any kind of paint (house, latex, oil, epoxy, etc.) that you want. I don't think you can get spraypaint that way though but if you have or have access to an airbrush your set.
