My ten gallon nano.

I have taken pictures of my precious ten gallon.This tank has been through hell and back over the last 2 1/2 years. I have battle hair algae nitrates ect ect and lost a tank full of corals twice with the exception of a couple that made it the full duration.I have been sps bound for about 8 months now and in total this ten gallon holds over 27 different types of corals.I have 8 differnt types of snails and a cucumber.I have natural phytoplankton growing along with a very diverse fauna population.

Ok, These were taken yesterday as I was trying to get some top down shots.I thought these pics looked cool as the light was in the background instead of right in front of my fac/camera.

I love the mod but a quick question. Why not go for 150w since you were at already 96w? Sorry so ignorant, just wanted to see some ideas before I ripped mine apart. Looks cool. :smile:

He may not have had the 96 watt powerquad, I have seen 20" fixtures that were 18 watts or a pair of 18s. A 70 watt MH is quite a bit of light for a 10 gallon tank, he will be able to keep about anything he would ever want in that tank with size being his only restriction. Plus you also have to consider heat, a 150 or 175 MH will produce alot more heat than a 70, you may be able to avoid heat issues by not going with the larger fixture. I don't know the reason that he went with a 70 but those are some things to consider when looking to upgrade lighting or modify a fixture (plus I also just thought about available space in the fixture he modded). 150 = too hot
150 = too much light after actinic mod
150 = buying another ballast o replace one I had laying around

I modded up a coralife 96 watt fixture and converted it to a 70 watt metal halide with 36 watt pc ultra actinic bulb.I am using a 10k ushio bulb.

I posted a link with instructions and if anyone has any questions just let me know.Its a pretty easy mod.Very sleek.

Now I get it...thanks for the clarification corrie. Anyways, I like the digitata. I just got a frag this weekend. How do you like it overall? Any issues I should take concern with? Keep up the good work. :smile:

The digitas are the easiest of the sps to care for and you should run into no problems as long as trates are in check.

Well it has gone through its stages, thats for sure. It has taken over 2 1/2 years to get this far.
