My pico

Yup. Ive seen Dragon79's nano...awesome! Im jealous of his frogspawn.

Yeah, I use the tiny clear filters. I use 3 b/c my rock blocks a lot of the flow and I rely on the 3 filters as my only source of flow.

It is a great office tank, but yeah if you can get the current usa hood, it fits tightly and perfectly so it hides everything like a canopy.

I am happy you came over to this site. I had seen you over at nano-reef and told my brother Dragon79 on this site about your tank.

He has an identical tank like yours but with 36 watts of power. Man I'm really impressed with your tank.

I hope my brother buys some frags like yours. Can you really keep a clam with that amount of lighting?

Just curious since we always hear that it's impossible. I want a melody too because I have a coralife light 18 watt 50/50 just sitting around and I thought that your hood was this one.

However, after seeing you post on this site I see that you have a different light. Can you give me more pictures on how it fits over, or maybe the dimensions of your hood?

That would be very nice since my b-day is coming quickly and I'm buggng my little brother for a melody tank.

Mike

P.S
check out my brothers tank, it's in the 2.5 pico section.
I checked out the site too that was given by Christina. They show a 10 inch one that has 36watts. Although when you scroll down, the dimensions between the one she has and the one that's listed say this.

her site link: (18 watts)
13"L x 6"W x3" H

the one i saw: (36 watts)
12"L x 7.25W x 2.5" H

Relatively close though in dimensions, but what you get for the 18 watts doesn't sound like much. I'm no lights expert, but it just says it has lunar lights, and it shows Exhibit A.

The one I saw, shows more:
Dual daylight, Dual actinic + lunar light Exhibit D (seems more beneifical, that's why I got the clip on light two, 18 watt 50/50 PC.)

Had I known that the 36 watt one was available i would have asked at Tongs for it, and went with smaller filters, since they take up a lot of space. I also want to see about getting a tank cover, acrylic or something to help minimize the rapid evaporation.

This is hands down one of the nicest tanks featured on our site. Great job! One can tell just from looking at the pics and reading through your posts, you really know what you are doing.

I've got lots of questions too, but for now I'll just keep staring at your photos. :thumb:

ps. Oh yeah, welcome to Nanotank.com!

Hey Dragon... what clip on do you use? I'm using the CurrentUSA 18w Satellite, and I have it raised up on it's stilts (CurrentUSA part #1000) and might have room for another light... I'd love to get another 18W on there.

Mine are two attach clip lights, and you can bend them how you want them. I'd rather have something that helps cover though. Either through what I was mentioning above or with getting a shield custom made for the tank. Looks like some thinking I'll have to do to figure things out for my current setup.

Dave,

Will this light by current USA work on your tank?

the one i saw: (36 watts)
12"L x 7.25W x 2.5" H

I saw that the one you have is the 18 watt and it's 13 inchs as opposed to this one, can you shed some light my way?

There are even some stilts you can purchase to raise it, would that work in case it doesn't fit flush on the tank?

Thanks Mike, but I'm not sure as 7.5" is pushing it... the little legs don't give quite enough clearance to go OVER the filters so on second thought, I'll prolly just stick with the 18W, it seems pretty bright. The tank is only 7 inches deep on average, so the intensity has to be pretty darn good.

Now that my "melody" or "rhythm" or whatever it is is up and running, I'm concerned about water movement....

Specifically, I have two tiny Azoo Palm filters (same size as red sea tiny) running, but i feel that when I have them going full blast it's too much current....

You have three running on there C.mydas... are they all running at full blast?

-dave-

p.s. I have a red-headed neon goby about 1" long that gets jostled pretty good by the full current, but he holds on to the rock just fine.

Ive got all three running. Ive got a lot of rock in my tank though so most of the streams get broken up by the rock. I also like to put GSP where the flow is really high b/c they can handle it and it breaks up the mini-rapids. Put a piece of rock in front of the stream to break it up if it is too powerful. It takes awhile to figure out what will work b/c when you re-arrange the rock the new patterns of flow inadvertantly start to kick up the sand...then you have to fine-tune to figure out how to solve both problems..flow and sand. :D

Can you give me more info on your undergravel heater? How is it being regulated temp wise? Where did you pick it up?

Thanks,

Mike

I got it at liveaquaria.com
It is a 2.5watt (I think...I cant really remember) We also got a thermostat at liveaquaria (Hydor brand). Basically the thermostat turns the heater on if the tank drops to 74 degrees. The heater will only raise the temp a couple of degrees which helps me stabilize the temp.

Very cool tank :);;

Hoping to set up one with a Maxima soon also, and possibly a Pom Pom Crab.
Either way many corals.
