My new 30g

Well,

I finally went out and brought a 30g tank. I wanted to buy the 40g tank but knew that I would not be able to put it into my room. 30g is the biggest tank I can fit into my room.

I have a situation now. I moved my LR from the 12g nano cube and placed them in my 30g tank. This tank is so large, I'll need about 25LBs to make up for the empty space.

I decided against a DSB for many reasons and I decided that I'll stick to a 1"-2" sand bed.

I put my MJ1200 and Aquaclear 201 in opposite corners to give me a good cross flow.

I have a Marineland bio-wheel 200 as a power filter.

My other situation is that the flow is so strong that I have microbubbles and my sand shifts to one side of the tank. There no sand storm, it's just blows one grain of sand at a time until there is just the buttom of the tank. I've tried everything to correct this but I'm at a lost.

I'm forced to creat a FOWLR aquarium because school starts in 2 weeks and I know that my hours on the job will decrease to less than 20 hours a month. I wont have the money to devote to a reef tank and still be able to make a car payment.

I'm thinking about adding some fake plants inside the display area to take up the empty spaces.

Pic will be coming soon.

I took the 30g back to the LFS because I had a custom tank built. It's a 24x24.5x8 rimless tank.

Here are some pictures.

This first photo is a comparison photo with a 20oz bottle of soda to show how shallow the depth of the tank is.

Top down view. This is how the tank is supposed to be viewed.

Plumbing of the tank. Please excuse the messy background.

Credit goes to Fish and Jemram on N-R for their inspiration for this tank. I need one more pound of live rock to go on the right side of the tank. I'm also thinking about adding LS.

I'm going to start a new thread for those who may not check to this thread.

Jgreen,

Hmmm I like what I see! How much did that cost to make? Is that acrylic or glass, seems as glass to me? If it is glass is silicon just holding it? If so you might want to look into a brace.... but then again I maybe wrong. I'd just hate for the tank to burst. Plus, I'd look into doing a sump too. GREAT plumbing by the way!

The tank is glass and was made by glasscages. They have a real good reputation so I don't have any worries that the tank will burst. The tank cost $185 dollars.

I'm still working on the plumbing. Nevertheless, I'm getting to a point where I'm tired of flooding my floor. Glad I have no carpet in my room or I would be in trouble.
