My New 24gal. Tank

Hello Everyone here is my new Nano tank. Its been running for about two months now. Current setup consists of a JBJ 24gal. Nano Cube, 25 pounds of live rock, 20 pounds of live sand, for lights I'm currently running a 250watts 14,000 k metal halide retrofit on a custom build hood. Tank parameters are: no detectable nitrites, nitrates or ammonia levels. Calcium @ 400ppm, and belive it or not water temp. ranges between 75 and 79 degrees. I will upload more pictures but for now here it is.

who did your custom lighting & hood? I'd like to hear more about that, and what you are using to keep your temperature on your tank so low.

Your black Ocellaris Variant looks cool (at least that's what it looks like, not sure) Also what's the blue fish you have there?

Thanks Steven ! I did the hood and lighting myself. To keep the water cool, I retrofited two 4.75" fans on the hood. One is blowing cool air into the hood, the other one is sucking hot air out of the hood. Also I build a casing around the reflector and light bulb with the purpose of not only blocking direct heat from the water surface, but also to concentrate the air moved by the fans on the light assembly itself. When the hood is close the acrilic casing along with the side walls of the hood form sort of like a wind tunnel were the light is seating in the middle receiving all the fans output. I'm going to post more pictures so that it makes more sence. Also I currently have the tank on a room with A/C. Overall I'm able to keep the water temp. below 80 degrees. Except today, here in Lancaster California the temperature outside was about 100 F all day. The tank was reading 81 degrees when I came home from work. The clown fish is actually a Maroon Yellow stripes, and the blue fish is infact a yellow tail damisel. I will post more pictures. Enjoy!!

wow, looks like a rather interesting mod. Where did you get your ideas from? Or is it something you came up with? Do you tinker with this kind of thing in your profession or is it a hobby of yours?

Rather curious if you could create something for a jbj nanocube 6 w/ MH. I live in an apartment so I dont have A/C other than the cheapy one that you turn on or off, not digital or fancy, nor controlled. I currently have 54 watts modded by nanocustoms, and I added a little fuge light when my brother was down visiting to give it 61 watts total. Not bad, it's not perfect mod by where I got it done, but it's decent I guess for now until I find something better, and that runs of course "cooler" To add the extra cool I'll need some type of chiller of some sort other than the one that just came out that my brother is using.

Anyway, I'm ramblin' so I'll get going on my way. Again very nice creation, and I guess I'll be seeing more pictures along the way, very cool!

Look at the first pic upper left hand corner. It's a yellow tail damsel. The other damsel is a blue velvet damsel, but it probably got removed since the pics were taken since traxxi didn't mention it.

Wow! Nice looking! LEe us know how that velvet damsel does as far as aggression goes. Those guys are noted for being one of the most aggresive damsels. Shame too because they are so beautiful.

I've had two velvet damsels, and they were both pretty easy going at first. Then within a month period they both doubled in size and starting being agressive with everyone. In fact I've got to try to catch the 2nd guy out of my tank this weekend. :cool1:
