Hi everyone... now i'm cycling my nano tank... and i want to know your opinion about doing the cycle without light?
I would suggest keeping the lights OFF as much as possible. Naturally, you will want to turn them on to check out all of the little critters that will be crawling around and poking their little heads out. That is fine. I would say just an hour or two a day though. There is really no need for them though until your cycle ends and you begin to add corals etc.

Well I do agree about the lighting not being needed. But I am putting my lights on the schedule in the beginning only because I want to be absolutely sure that my temperatures are rock solid before I add any critters to the tank. I will have more algae but I can live with that.

I also second the surface skimmer attachment, if you put that attachment on and take the exact same photo you will notice a world of difference for the top layer of the water, it will be crystal clear.
