Might need to get a few more pieces of live rock.

The tank might struggle a bit later on when you add fish if you haven't got enought biological filtration.

You also don't wan't to be adding a few bits here and there because you will have a mini cycle everytime which you tank won't like.

Best just to bight the bullet and get some premium pieces and go through the pain of a cycle. A good rule of thumb is 1/4-1/3 of the display volume in live rock.

I was asking the question a few years back about what size tank you would want to house two clowns and I was told at least 20 Gal. is this true?

sounds like a cool project! LR is needed for sure just to avoid any chance of future problems. Is that crushed coral on the bed? 15 gal update? Best of luck!!!

BMR- I think a 20g is good for a pair.

I would be happier to see a pair in something closer to 20g, but I have seen a clown pair and anemone in a 10g. If you go this route make sure you read up on the care and maintenance of clowns and anemone to increase your chance of success. Anemones are finicky creatures. It's not impossible, but it takes very dedicated husbandry (plus a bit of luck).

My suggestion, get the tank running and then find the type of clown and anemone you want (some clowns have a preference for anemones) and then put the fish first to let the tank mature before adding in the anemone.

Looks like a good start! Anemones can be a pain sometimes, mine were in my 45, I had to make a little rock pile just for them cause they would wander and sting corals. They were happiest and stayed put when my SG was pretty high (1.0265-1.027). Most tank raised clowns have never even seen an anemone anyway.

Nope. Well this isn't exactly the cheapest hobby out there. But there are ways to keep costs down. Local reef clubs are a great way to share expenses and buy/sell used equipment.
