I actually won this tank at raffle. It is modded with 3 light strips (54w total), larger return pump, and higher rated fans. Thanks to Niko5 and SeanB at MARSHreef for this one. Anyway here some recent tank shots:

Left Side of Tank

Front Side

Branch of Zoo's

Red/Green Brain

Toadstool

Galaxia

Emerald Crab Toadstool surfing

Current Inhabitants:

Peppermint shrimp, Tiger Cowrie, Nassarius snails, Margerita snails, Emerald crab, Blue leg hermits, and a False Perc.

Its only been up and running since mid Novemember. I am trying to get more LPS and perhaps a small (2" or smaller) Derasa or maybe a Crocea.

Thanks for looking.

That looks awesome. Good job. You'll want to keep an eye on the galaxia, as it has a powerful sting, and long sweeper tentacles.

yea I know this... I have had this galaxia for quite some time... about a few months ago the sweepers just stop coming out, well not stretching out as long as it use to, only like 1/2" or maybe 1" at the most... I am not sure if it is stress or what... but it has been like that since it was in my main tank. I thought if i move it to a more lighted tank with a more nutrient rich enviroment that it would come out again... but it didn't. I know it is not dying becuase it has grown since I purchased it and has also glued itself to the piece of LR that I originally placed it on. I direct feed it sometimes but I have no idea why the sweepers no longer come out as long as they use to... In a way it might be a good thing since it won't harm anything... but I do try to keep an eye on it to see if is having any problems. But also since the move it has grown a few more polyps around the edges as well.

Looks nice. How long has it been set up? Is the tank a Nanocube? Like Incysor mentioned watch the galaxia close!

Been up for about 1 month. Don't worry everything in it has come from established tanks and also started with the same water... so there was no need to cycle. And yes it is a 6G JBJ nanocube.

Cool, as long as you're keeping an eye out for it. I mainly noticed mine doing it at night. I very rarely ever saw it extend them when the lights were on. Have you checked to see if it's doing it once the lights are off?

what is that pump/nozzle you replaced the stock one with? That thing is a monster. Does it give great flow or what? What's the GPH?

Dragons,

That's a deflector, it takes the GPH of the return pump and distributes it throughout the tank in a circular rotation.

If you saw it in person you would see it turning around like a clock arm. It's made by Hydor and it's limited to a certain GPH.

I wanted one but my return pump is rated way to high...

I seen it at Tongs in the 12 gallon. Unfortunately I no nothing more about it. Good upgrade for the 6er mike? Can you pull up specs and price?

Here is a link to one Steven. I have been using them on both of my cubes and think they help prevent dead spots pretty well. I took a sheet metal nibbler and removed the flange you see on the rear of the deflector, it is there for another application where a sponge is added for more biological filtration. Here is the link: http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem. ... ct=HD01401 . HTH, Skip

PS They are on sale for $9.99 at www.drsfostersmith.com right now.

Nice looking tank. Tell us more about how you won it. Was it a Marsh-related raffle?

Thats an awesome prize. I got some sweet red zoas once from Niko5 at a fragswap.

I won it at a MARSH nano workshop. The sand was donated by Garrick's sand vat, The frags (branch of zoo's, a few mushrooms and the toadstool, came from Leslea of FragsandCrabs. She also supplied some LR and the water and a peppermint shrimp. Although after initial setup, I decided that the LR that was given was more like dead sps so I replaced it with some fiji and marshall island rock that was in my main tank and put the other LR in my sump.

The spec's on the pump I have no idea what they are since I did not do it myself. mikeguerrero and skipm are dead on the money with the deflector. I can take pics of the ballast and other wiring that Nick had built and can post them. The fans are 50x50x10mm fans that I got from Fry's Electronics can't remember there rating but they are a heck lot better then the stock fans.

None of the supplied carbon filter or ceramic tubes where used in place of it was rubble. Only about a 2" piece of the filter pad was used. Nick is in the process of designing a surface skimmer for jbj nano that will be placed in here once he is finished. I really wish there was a nice skimmer out there in the market that was made specifically for jbj nanocubes. =) Also the glass cleaner was replaced with a nimble cleaner. Thats about it.

here is a pic of the Ballast box:

There are two switches, 1 for the 10k and the 50/50 and the other is for the actinic. The moon lights and the fans are set to run 24/7.

The large conduit is just a casing for all the wiring coming into the box. the two black wires are the lights power chords coming out and the white one is for the moon lights and fan.

Pretty much everything is wired into this besides the heater, pump, and the small powerhead i have in there.

These are the light strips:

who modded it?
Niko5 and SeanB both can be found at Marshreef.com

If you're looking for a nice surface skimmer for your cube, check out my thread for my cube. It a few pictures down & its called a Nanoskim. It works like a charm.
Nick is making one. I am waiting for that one. =)
