My Custom 6G Nano

I had just finished dosing Flatworm eXit. It seemed to have worked very well. Sadly though, I lost my anemone crab in in the process.

I found a good deal on eBay for a 14" HOB refugium/skimmer with a 50/50 light fixture for about $106 shipped. I knew I wanted a skimmer and a fuge and well, since space was an issue, I thought this was a good choice. It also came with a maxi-jet style pump.

After 3 hours of setting up, I finally got it working. I had to relocate my UV filter a little lower to make things work. The outtake is a bit high so I had to adjust the ATO sensor higher so that the water level in the chamber would match. There was a lot of bubbles going back into the tank. It has lessened since then. Any Idea's on how to stop the bubbles? I was thinking of attaching longer piping.

There is a rubber ring on the collection cup that I had set too high and so the cup sat too. Water overflowed the cup and spilled all over the floor! I was up until 5am cleaning it up. Luckly, I didn't burn the house down!!

Frequent visits to my LFS have finally paid off.. Free Caulerpa!! Thanks to Dave at Tropical fish.

I moved around my rocks. Until I can fix the bubble problem, I will take FTS

I ditched the quarantine/top off tank below and just went with a simple top off

Here are comparisons of my old and new lighting:

Jebo 36w 50/50

Coralife 96w quad 50/50 Pictures just don't do justice. I was very pleased it's brightness.

Canopy is still in the works..

New additions:

Yellow Gumdrop Goby
Ricordia
Blue Sponge

I will take more pictures as soon as everything settles and when plants open back up.

aquemeni5110,

Nice job... I noticed your location and your only 1 hour and fifteen mintues away from me. I'm in Santa Rosa. Are there any good places for coral in fairfield? The only thing I saw there was a petco and that was near the nuttree. Anyways if your looking for frags or anything let me know...

I actually grew up in Sacramento. It's been a while..

In Sacramento:
- O Street Aquarium (lots of livestock)
- There's one off of Florin rd. I forgot the name (Livestock)

Fairfield:
- "Petclub" (I tend to go there alot since it's an exit away. Not much selection but they have only 2 prices for all of the corals they sell.)
- "Petco" by the outlets like you mentioned. (I just recently went there. Very nice selection on SW fish and some corals.)

Napa:

AQUATIC WORLD
3630 BEL AIRE PLAZA
NAPA, CA 94558-2831
(707) 255-8044

This is one of my favs. It's a bit of drive but well worth it! (lots of livestock and SW fish)

If you're ever in the bay, I've been to these:

- "Wetpets" off of San Pablo Dam (A bit pricey but lots of corals and fish to choose from.)
- "Tropical Fish" (Only one tank of corals to choose from and some SW fish.)
- "All About Fish" in Concord (The is a very nice place. Plenty of corals and fishes. They're wholesalers but they have sales every sun on corals and fishes.)
- "Concord Aquarium" in Concord (A bit pricey but lots of corals and fishes to choose from. Plus they have 1000 gallon reef tank to look and drool at...

HTH

What kind of frags do you have?

Sorry to be so slow in replies... Yeah, "All about fish" is pricey, I haven't been to the concord aquarium? I just left Napa today and wished I saw your post before hand. I would have had something to do during lunch! For frags, I have colonies that I put up in craigslist.com But I'm willing to trade which I didn't put up there. Here's the link if your interested in any trades.

islandcreation - Concord aquarium is off the Sun Valley Mall exit next to The Good Guys and Tower Records. I don't have anything for trade but I'd like to buy some zoo's off you when I have the money.

reefman - Thanks, I am pleased with how it turned out. I put a filter pad in the outtake of the fuge to stop bubbles. So far its stopped most of it. My question is: will this stop the fuge from performing biologically or in any other way?

Wow thats a nice tank. Ive been to All about fishes in Concord and it is a bit pricey. But i go there so much the guy usually gives me some sort of deal. Its very nice though. You should also try aquapets at downtown livermore they have great deals there on all sorts of corals and he dosent tax either. Dont know why.
