I had just finished dosing Flatworm eXit. It seemed to have worked very well. Sadly though, I lost my anemone crab in in the process.
I found a good deal on eBay for a 14" HOB refugium/skimmer with a 50/50 light fixture for about $106 shipped. I knew I wanted a skimmer and a fuge and well, since space was an issue, I thought this was a good choice. It also came with a maxi-jet style pump.
After 3 hours of setting up, I finally got it working. I had to relocate my UV filter a little lower to make things work. The outtake is a bit high so I had to adjust the ATO sensor higher so that the water level in the chamber would match. There was a lot of bubbles going back into the tank. It has lessened since then. Any Idea's on how to stop the bubbles? I was thinking of attaching longer piping.
There is a rubber ring on the collection cup that I had set too high and so the cup sat too. Water overflowed the cup and spilled all over the floor! I was up until 5am cleaning it up. Luckly, I didn't burn the house down!!
Frequent visits to my LFS have finally paid off.. Free Caulerpa!! Thanks to Dave at Tropical fish.
I moved around my rocks. Until I can fix the bubble problem, I will take FTS
I ditched the quarantine/top off tank below and just went with a simple top off
