Thanks Sadi!

when the coralline finally comes in, and with a few more coral frags, the PVC should eventually be totally hidden.

very nice tank, awesome rockwork! i love the bommies with the rock racks makes for a very original looking scape
i also like your comments on how new additions change everything in the tank - clowns are awesome "dither" (i think thats the word) fish in a large tank because they hang out in front of the glass and that gives the rest of the shyer fish confidence to come out and play.
nice choice of corals too.......they are some of my favorite LPS's, colorful and hardy
and your right about them filling up fast - no matter how big or nano we have to be careful not to get carried away - i guess that is why i have three tanks right now :)

YES! Dither fish! That is exactly what they are! I was trying to come up with that word. I have read about using chromis to get shy angels to come out... same idea.

Thanks again for the comments!

One question... I want to eventually add some derasa or squamosa clams to the front sandbed. How long should I wait. Six months? A year? There is a VHO bulb in the very front of the hood, with two PCs also in the front half, and, another single PC in the back half for a total of 363 watts = 6.48 watts per gallon. Enough light for the "low light" clams? I could easily upgrade to t5 lighting.... worth it?

Thanks for the encouragement and the help.

rmanecke,

Your tank is progressing nicely and I love what you've done with your aquascaping.

You got some sweet black & white Percula clowns. I find them to be very distinctive, social, and extremely active, which just like you said, helps to draw out shier fish that share the tank with them.

Keep up the good work.

i would be concerned about clams and just vho - not saying it can't be done, but it is more likely to be successful with MH. my derasa is in about 12" of water directly under a 175W MH bulb and likes it there........ but in total you do have a pretty descent amount of light so long as much of it is white it could work????? but i always tend to error on the side of caution

I have kept dersa clams in the past under fluorescent lighting but I never tried the higher light clams. I did get a crocea but didn't know I had to supplement the lighting with target feeding (it was about 1 1/2" wide).

Yeah, I do feed and I have a fuge with some rasping snails which will hopefully generate floating food items for a filter feeder.

For small clams you have to target feed them with phytoplankton in order for them to get enough food to survive. I wish I knew then what I know now, the clams I see today don't seem to be as pretty as the one I lost.

A couple of new pics. I have added some open brains and an elegance coral (against my better judgement)... I saw it... and like some kind of zombie... all I have read about them being over collected, hard to keep, etc... faded into the far corners of my mind as an overwhelming voice said over and over "must have pretty coral... must have pretty coral". The good news is that it seems very happy and has some nice brownish zooxanthelle (according to A. Calfo a sign of a specimen that may thrive).

I really like the way your tank is starting to fill in. Before you know it the time for another tank will be here
