I love the rock work. Very nice. Your pics are awesome too. This tank will be really fun to see as it matures.

Yeah, actually it does. I have to give it a good cleaning on water change day. It also shows all the little tiny LR crumbs that fall off on to the sand. I am going to set up a new tank soon and will be transferring the current ten gallon stuff over to a custom made 26g tank I have sitting in the basement and when that happens I am mixing some white sand in with the black to hopefully help with those problems.

ok so it is a aqua clear filter just modded into a fuge. i can kinda see what you did to mod it but im still not sure. did you just make that screen for it and stick some macro in there? is there write up i can read on how to do this or can you help me out here.

The screen is actually part of the media basket that came with the filter. The clear piece next to that and the piece that blocks off part of the intake is made from plexi. The part covering the intake is open at the bottom so that the water is directed to the bottom so that it has to go from the bottom up through the chemical media and macro before flowing back in to the tank to maximize contact time. Hope that makes sense.

There is about a one inch opening at the bottom. No sand or rubble. Just a bag of chemi-pure and chaeto which is not shown in the pictures.

If I were to build it again though I would lower the intake piece about 1/4 - 1/2 inch below the rim just incase the opening got blocked so that the water could overflow in to the main section rather than overflow on to the floor. It would be an easy fix with a dremel, I just have not gotten around to it and I have not had any problems with it yet anyways.
