Moving to Seattle Area ! And moving a tank

So I'm cross country this spring to the Seattle area, and could use some help with fish stores and such in the area.
But the bigger problem is moving a tank cross country... HOW :maitre suggestions needed !!!
Here's the stats
29 gallon, 40 lbs rock lots of sand, scooter blenny, percula clown, lawnmower blenny, tons of snails /crabs, cucumber, starfish, firefish, strawberry dottyback, a few zoos/mushrooms.
I'm totally lost, should I,
A. Sell tank and start over
B. Fly tank and hope for the best
Daughter and I have put our heart and soul in these guys, and it pains us to not take our "buddies"

Moving is not as hard as you think... Just be sure to oxygenate the bags at your LFS prior to the move.... All other things, sand and rocks can be rapped in newspaper that has been soaked in ocean water...

If it's a cross-country move though I would personally sell it off and start fresh. I can imagine that the move in itself would be stressful enough. If you were moving just an hour or two away, that would be different.

Looks like you two really care about your setup and critters as do the majority on this board.

If you really want to do the move with them, you need to go down to you LFS, they should give you at no charge the empty styrofoam containers and if you are a good customer and your tank is not that huge they will oxygenate the fish and live stock for you.

Once this is done you should pack them in nicely into the container with newspaper balls so they don't shift.

Next you want to seal the box nice and tight and take it down to UPS or FED EX and have it sent over night to your destiny.

It will arrive safely with them since they ship live stock. If you are driving across you need a friend to send them for you UPS or FED EX once you are already there.

If you are driving the only other way to get them across is to purchase a large igloo from Kmart and purchase oxygenated pumps from the LFS you can go down to Radio shack and get the car adapter that will power up your power heads in the igloo and your heater + air stones.

I would also carry extra salt water and do a partial change at mid road, just a tad and keep it just as safety if any spills out.

My brother moved his fish to Florida and they made it by car and this type of setup, it was fresh water but he did it and his fish was happy to be with him, he had him for 7 years and didn't want to part.

I just moved from Texas to Oregon and I'm sad to say, but I just gave everything away to local reefers and will start fresh now that we're settled in. It would have taken up way too much valuable car space and a whole lot of effort to transport live corals. It was a 4 day trip with a cat in the car and I'm happy I decided to do it that way. It was hard but now I get to start off new again.

I think Mr. Mike Guerrero said it best once in that "its almost more fun to start with a new tank all over again then to keep maintaining a perfect one". That is a paraphrase but I think it went something like that and I agree. :mrgreen:
