Modded NanoCube 12DX

I thought of sharing some of the mods I did to my Nano Cube 12DX. This is my second cube which I have been modding and I have also tested with water. I'm just too lazy to transfer stuff from my other cube into it. Too much of a hassle.

Surface Skimmer with Dual Water Returns (the grill is permanently closed)

Canopy Mod- 4 Fans (1 in and 3 out) 96watts (not shown)

Fuge Light (10watt 50/50 PC)...

Rear Attachment...

Fuge...

Lighted Fuge

Fuge Cover

Fuge with Cover...

And here is a picture of the Sega Surface Skimmer I'm using for my other Cube, spent 99 cents. I dont have a dremel so all of the cuttings I have done are a bit crooked. The shorter left side serves as a marker. By making the short tip touch the lip of the frame then close the canopy and it'll automatically get the required setting for skimming. Takes out the guess work in adjustments.

SSS...

Thats about it so far...I also have a 2.5 MB that is modded, will post pictures soon. The other Cube is in the modding proccess but its kinda hard to do with water and livestock and water inside.

If you're abbreviating anything your post may not go through. I've run into a few weird bugs this way.

I sent Aj a PM....But here it is again.

For the fan, I didn't change the stock wiring, I just moved the stock fans to the new location. Then added 2 new fans to the old location and used a 12v800mah power adapter...a 300mah will work fine too. Out of the 4 fans, 3 blow air out and 1 blows air in. Doing this improves the circulation opposed to all 4 sucking the air out.

For the air vents, I used a kitchen (stainless) sink strainer as stencil for the hole pattern. First unassemble the canopy and unscrew the reflector and move it aside. This would be a no brainer since it is really tight inside, there are only 2 places to attach the fans to. As seen in the photograph of what I did, you get the picture? Anyway, get your sink strainer and lay it on the desired spot and start marking the holes with a sharpie pen. Get your drill (variable speed would be better) and the smallest drill bit and start drilling pilot holes. When thats done, get the appropriate drill bit size and go over the holes. To attach the fans, I used silicone sealant, in case these fans wear out, it would be easy to replace. You will want to seal the edges of the fan that comes into contact with the hood for optimum performance.

I ended up doing 2 posts by dividing the post into 2. As a whole it just didnt want to work, maybe because it was too long?

Thanks that is a pretty nifty idea(strainer). I want to do the same mod but just add those holes to the reflector and just screw the fans to the shield. Thanks again.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that too....lined up with the reflectors are holes too that line up with the fan and canopy...sorry about that. I didnt post it because I was testing it then....and it works well....completely forgot about that.

Hey Master Er I like your mods! On your fuge light what did you use to house the light bulb. In other words what did you use for the socket and where can I get one? I'm thinking of doing something similar for a fuge in my BC29.
