does any one use a mesh bag to contain their macro in ... I was hoping to take some macro place it in a mesh bag in a small palm filter as a fuge ? The mesh would be like the stuff that chemi pure comes in or wedding vail.

I would think that the macro would just grow through the mesh and if the mesh were fine enough to prevent that then the mesh would restrict too much light IMO. If you wanted to do it just to make it easy to remove or to try and keep it in one place then it should work out fine as long as you pack it loosely. HTH, Skip

hey, sady

have you find how to keep your macro in just one place cause i dont know if you are having the same problem that i have first all the time i see tiny pieces of it coming from my filter then today i was cleaning my tank and i sow that my pump wasnt that powerfull like it used to (mini jet mn606) so i took all the LR were the pump is located and guess what it was stuck with alot of substances and alot of macro so i was like  :???: and i clean it and know i can see the flow what a difference so i dont want to be cleaning the pump every other week cause of macro so let me know if something works for you so i can copy it   and i was thinking the same stuff using the little bag of chemi pure but skimp said it will prevent macro to get enough light and my macro is already getting to low lighting ... im using i think a 13 w fuge light of homedepot.. so please share some ideas....

I am going to try using some "plastic canvas" that I found it has small holes in it like a screen. It comes with large holes and small holes I paid 75 cents for an 8x12 sheet. I chose the small holes and will use the guide for the filter pack to hold it in to place ...hopefully I will be able to keep the macro in the filter this way

I was just thinking about using the same stuff when I started rereading this thread. I had the idea of just making a u shaped piece that came up in the back and front of the filter, basically just bending a strip so that the fold is in the bottom of the filter. I think between that and using a macro like chaetomorpha which tends to grow in a ball anyway and it should work out for you. The only thing that may still pose a problem is the tiny sized filter box of the filter. Good luck and let us know how it works. Skip
