Maxi - Jet 900 will not fit ?

I have just purchased a Maxi-Jet 900 to replace my original pump on my 12gal nano cube. I pulled out the original and noticed the 900 to be much bigger, wider and taller than the original. It will not fit in any way into the 4th chamber or the 3rd chamber. I have read that this is a common upgrade with not a lot of difficultly. What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated.

I could be wrong, but I believe the "standard" upgrade is to a Maxi-Jet 600. I hope that you can get the 900 to fit... hopefully someone else with personal experience can chime in.

You mention that it won't fit in the fourth chamber, this leads me to believe that you have the original model of the nanocube since the newer models only have three chambers. That being said you may not be able to upgrade to the MaxiJets, you may have to go with the MiniJet 606.

Yeah Skipm I suspected that might be the problem that is why I mentioned the 4th chamber. Thank you for verifying, I have had it for over a year and half. Thanks Jesse for your suggestion, I'll return the 900 and see if I can go with Maxi-Jet 600 or Mini-Jet 606? Anyway I'm bummed out, I really wanted to increase flow. Maybe someone out there has a older nano(one that hasn't cracked) that has done a upgrade?
Thanks again.

but maybe can give you an idea and well you can always play around with it cause it comes with alot of parts that you can make the intake smaller and well you can always do a mod on the intake of the pum just some plastic and glue that will do it  .... IF i was you ill do what i could do to keep the maxi cause it GPH but thats just me...
