man-eating tree coral

my Kenya tree coral is growing so well he’s outgrowing the base he came on and his "feet" are starting to overlap its sides. Should I find a place to put him that he can spread parallel to his base? Do I have to worry about him flopping over? I’m wondering if I should move him lower in the tank and maybe he can figure out how to move his “feet” up the nearest rock? Do I dare try splitting him (I’m a newbie)? I don’t want him to start rotting
or breaking…any thoughts on where I can move him? He's in the right corner, you can already see his front branch getting floppy from the weight...

thanks!

I think you could move it down a little to prop it up against the rock and it will grow onto that, otherwise if it leans over and touches the rock that way it will just grow from where it touches on the rock. Hope that makes sense.

I decided I didn't really want the second trunk to grow in the same place as the main piece; wanted it on two different sides of the tank. so i took a sharp razor blade and cut off the second trunk. i think i should have taken it out of the water, since it was sort of rubbery in and it wasn't a clean cut. the original tree recovered w/o issue, and the cut healed nicely. problem was mooring down the cut piece, since i don't like plugs (too big and hard to place), and i want to give the cut tree room. so i took a plastic toothpick and skewered him vertically through the head and stuck him in a rock that way (couldn't skewer sideways, not enough trunk; he shrunk when cut). so i don't know if that piece will recover. which of course makes me mad at myself and second-guessy. but, i know the first tree will sprout more; he's happy. i hate feeling guilty, so hopefully this will work!
