I am setting up my first reef tank. It started out as a 6. NanoCube, but it has instead evolved into a AGA 20H instead. Long story...
But anyway, last night I put in some live rock that I bought at a local marine livestock distributor, to begin the cycling period, and not five minutes later, out pops a teeny tiny little feather duster, probably just 1/8 of an inch long. I couldn't believe it! I wasn't expecting any goodies, but here he was. So far, he's all I've seen. There does appear to be a tiny bumble bee snail shell in the crevices of one of the rocks, but I think it's empty.
Should I not get my hopes up that he'll survive the cycling period? I have some cured rock in there (premium stuff, cost a fortune, but it's gorgeous, and that's where the feather duster came from), but right now it's mostly uncured rock, which will have a lot of die-off. It's pretty rough looking rock that's already sloughing off some stuff.
