Live rock hitchikers

I have a small anemone that came with a piece of my live rock. What do I do to try and preserve this cute little things life during my tank cycling? Is there anything? There are also a couple of feather duster worms too.

Hmmm...My first response is there isn't too much you can really do. It'll either make it or it wont. However you might be able to improve it's chances by doing frequent water changes. Like every couple days do a 50% water change. I don't know how that will affect the cycle itself, if it will prolong it or not. Most of my experience dealing with tank cycles is with larger tanks where doing water changes like that wouldn't be feasible.

What kind of anemone is it? It may be a pest-type that you don't want anyway.

Just for clarification purposes...does the cute little anemone look anything like this?

If so, it's aiptasia which is considered a pest. They multiply quickly and can and will sting corals.

Any chance we can get a pic of the anemone you've got?

Nope.

It's got way fewer fronds than that. Like maybe 10. And it's really little and pink. I will try and find my digital camera. Is there a limit on pic size we can post here? My files are so big, and I'm a little clueless on how to shrink em.

For the most part on forums if you keep the images to 600x450 it makes it easier to see the whole image without having to scroll back and forth and up and down. Most free image hosting sites will give you the choice to reduce the size of your images. It's a little slow to do it this way if you have lots of images, but for just a few it works fine. If you're on a PC I can point you in the direction of a freeware program that is fairly easy to use to reduce 1 image at a time, or do a whole folder at once.

You can use MS Paint to reduce images, one at a time. It should already be loaded on your pc and is pretty easy to do.

Hmmm

I looked again and maybe it does look like the one Sugar Magnolia posted. Still looking for my camera. Hubby must have stashed it somewhere!
