Hi all

I have a 10g nano

I am using live rock and live sand as my main bio filter

In my mechanical filter im using a sponge and rowaphos and carbon

Would it be better to take all that out and fill it with live rock rubble?

Cheers

i like to use carbon and a sponge. your tank should have plenty of bio filter in the rock that makes up the reef structure which makes placing live rock rubble in the sump redundent and a place for detritus to accumulate. just make sure you use small amounts of carbon and replace it regularly and clean the sponge frequently.

sounds good and just like john said with a small filter you will need only a sponge and carbon.

Carbon

All good info....
I'm still in the throws of planning my 12 g Nano-Cube.

When you say use carbon where exactly are you putting it?
In my existing salt fish tank the only carbon is sewn into the filter bag.

Thanks... Geoff aka Didger

You can buy reusable bags at your LFS to put the carbon in or if you use Chenipure, it comes in a bag. Some people also use old stockings (like pantyhose) to put carbon in.
