Limp coral

Hi
Just bought some soft coral for my tank and i am in a bit of a dilemma. I think its called a finger coral(probably not) Its purple/mauve in colour and looked fully erect in the shop(hmmmm) ie like lots of fingers. I put it in my tank and it seems to be a bit stressed maybe as its gone limp. Looks as though some one has sat on it. My tank is 45 litres, all the levels are ok Ie nitrates, nitrites, ammonia an PH. Wasn't sure whether he is aclimatising or what. currently he as at the bottom of the tank on the substrate. Do you think he needs to be on the live rock near the surface of the tank near the light or near the outlet of my pump so he gets lots of water flow. Not sure Ta

I assume you mean how did i introduce him to my tank. If it was then I left it floating in the bag in the top of the tank for 45 mins. And thanx for replying

Typically I acclimate/introduce corals the same way I would fish. I float the bag for 10-15 minutes then add a small amount of water every 10 minutes, until the water in the bag closely matches my tank. This lets the specimen adjust to the water parameters and temperature much more slowly. Most likely your coral is just stressed from being added to the water too quickly. It may take it up to a week before your coral pulls through it.

Thank you for your kind advices
Typically just checked my nitrates which were fine a few days ago and they are through the roof which im sure may have somthing to do with it. not sure what to do now whether to do an immediate 25% water change or allow it to maybe carrying on through its cycle in which it may drop. However, the tank has been cycling for 6 weeks ish and all was fine. Im not sure with my filtration system is right need some help there. my previous post does explain my type of filtration.
What joy im going back to keeping goldfish

If you didn't acclimate your coral to your water parameters, just matched the temp, this the coral is probably extremely stressed. The link that Kid posted is a very good one, print it if you need to.

If what you have is a finger leather, it isn't all that uncommon for them to 'slump over' or go 'limp' when stressed or after lights out.
