HELLO, by the way i'm new here. I was just wondering, i have a ? about some lighting issues i will be having.
i just bought my 29 bio and already am getting this light set for it
1x250W HQI, 2x24W CF atinics,2 moon lights. it will be around 4-6 inches above the tank with 4 fans for the lights . i plan on running sps's and some clams and was wondering if yall think this is overkill or a good setup. yes i am gonna be running with a skimmer and 30lbs of LR and a 2 inch LS bottom. do yall think this sounds good? any advice welcomed. if the lighting is to strong how can i shield it or should i raise it up more?
thanks for any advice and i will be posting lots of questions and pics...LOL

It is alot of light, but if you are looking to keep SPS and clams you'll love it. plus you have a huge selection of 250 watt lamps. You might not even notice the CF's with that 250 watter though. Also, remember to take plenty of time... a couple weeks or so... to slowly acclimate any new corals to the lighting unless they came from similar lighting.

So do u think i should put some kind of shield up when acclimating them.If so what could i use., Could i use a couple pieces of x-ray film undeveloped ,it has a bluish tint to it to make it lighter at first... thanks

You could use a couple layers of window screen, removing one piece every several days. ALso make sure that there is a piece of tempered glass protecting your tank from teh uv rays of the MH.
