Lighting 1.5g Hex

So.... I thought I was going to get me a Nanocube 12g with a MH from nanocustoms, but I might be getting a dog soon, so I wouldn't have the money for both..

anyways, right now I have a 1.5g hex chilling in my bedroom with 2x9w pc lights over it [10k, actinic]

What do you think would be the best bet for corals in this while I setup the 12 [maybe]? I was thinking ricordia, gsp, maaaaaybe an sps frag really close to the top of the tank. [the rockwork goes up almost to the surface due to the hex's shape.]

Any thoughts?

Probably zoas, shrooms, GSP, lowlight corals like that. I wouldnt do an sps for two reasons. I dont think that there is enough watts or par from the lighting that you have. Reason two, the tank should be established.

just my .02.

I would also stick to polyps, mushrooms, ricordia, and softies. There is too much of a chance that any SPS put in there would either not survive or just hang in there and turn brown. Stick with the less light demanding corals and I think you'll be much happier in the long run.
If the tank you have isn't cycled yet make sure to let it cycle completely before you try any corals, fish or inverts in it. You didn't mention fish but the very most a tank like this should hold is one very small fish, I personally would stick to an invert like a small shrimp. JMO, Skip

Ok, well, it's been cycling for 3 weeks. I know how all this stuff works [LFS work for around 3-4 years] It's just that lighting is NOT my strong point whatsoever, especially since the guys I worked/workfornow don't really know what they are doing (compared to what I read on the internet) And this isn't my first salt tank either, 30long reef, 5gal, and now this.

Is it wrong that I love setting up new tanks every once n a while? Haha. It's addicting.
